All of XY’s story held wasted potential. AZ is hailed among fans as being ‘tragic’.. however he actually committed the crimes I too attempted.i think the reason for that change in opinion is the reasons for him committing those crimes to begin with, though. AZ did it out of Revenge and Suffering or something like that, whereas you simply did it for your own pursuit of an ideal world. AZ seems more tragic in comparison, more of a tragic villain than anything. i do think that people somewhat need to regard that he did shitty things, like trying to kill thousands of innocent people and pokemon.
and yeah ahah.. it definitely held a lot of wasted potential.
‘’The reason’’…. Perhaps it’s not my place to argue, but.. didn’t AZ commit these atrocities out of anger?
The original purpose of his machine was to bring a pokemon back to life.. a function it succeeded in performing. This means the ancient ruler harnessed a vast power in that moment- one which could have brought relief to many suffering equal loss.
But enraged by the failures of mankind, he instead transformed it into a terrible weapon, and destroyed most of the remaining population.
That is the story passed down to us.
In XY, the reason given for the king’s deep introspection… appears to be Floette’s departure. Should the pokemon have remained by his side, would he have felt the same level of remorse for his actions? Those who have experienced violence motivated by anger can attest to it being hardly an isolated incident.
As for my own actions.. They too are unforgivable. But to believe the motivation was ‘selfishness’, is incorrect.
Fears, delusions.. desperation.. are in no way equal to wrath.
AZ claimed thousands of lives. The only life I ended up taking in the
end, was my own. In retrospect, that is also quite the tragedy.
