Interesting piece of trivia for all of us who recently took up competitive breeding and/or shiny hunting; it’s physically impossible in gen 1 or 2 for a pokemon to be generated female and shiny if it’s a starter, eevee or fossil.
It’s attack “IV” decided both. To generate a female of that gender ratio, atk iv would be 0 or 1. The lowest value needed to produce a shiny, is 2.
It also meant breeding two shinies resulted in a 1/64 chance of the gene being inherited, but no shinies could be competitive since their IVs were so terrible.
Marowak could theoretically reach an atk stat of over 1000. Crits were decided by speed. You could put over 65,000 ev’s into every single stat.
..What a weird world the pre-RSE era was.
Let’s just take a moment to be glad we were in fact, oblivious to it as children.
